Until late August 2017 the disused railway line between Market Weighton and Goodmanham was in popular use by the public. When it was blocked off by landowners a resident of Goodmanham, supported by Ramblers submitted a claim to ERYC for the footpath to become a right of way. After investigating the claim, ERYC made such an Order, that was then subject of objections, resulting in it being referred to The Planning Inspectorate for adjudication.

Decisions dated 19th November 2020 [interim] and 25th March 2021[final] by the Planning Inspectorate confirmed [with amendment] ERYC's Order for the railway line to recorded as a right of way [Map].
