Despite a weather forecast for fog, 10 walkers met at Whitwell on the Hill for an 8 mile walk led by Marilyn Skelton.

In fact it was an ideal day for winter walking with no sign of fog. The sun shone, the sky was blue and there was frost in the ground so mud was not a problem. Perfect.

Walking for Health

Ramblers macmillan logoConsidering stepping up your walking to go with a Ramblers group or perhaps gradually stepping down because of physical ability or an ailment? An ideal way of achieving this is to participate in a Walking for Health scheme. 

It  is run by the Ramblers and Macmillan Cancer Support and delivered by ERYC Walking for Health. Schemes also operate through York and Hull City Unitary Authorities

Walks are designed to cater for everyone from an experienced walker to a complete beginner, every walk wfh accredited scheme 2013having a Leader and back marker. All are pre planned and risk assessed to ensure full safety for walkers.
