East Yorkshire and Derwent Area Ramblers

walking to protect our local countryside

Lynn Dickie led 13 Ramblers on this 8 mile walk from Lastingham.

The heather was at its best on the route across the moors towards Rosedale and passing the Ana Cross on the return. The present cross is early 19th century and replaced the medieval Ain Howe cross, part of which is in the crypt of Lastingham church.

Ain Howe cross is thought to have been a sanctuary cross of the church.
