East Yorkshire and Derwent Area Ramblers

walking to protect our local countryside

Dark clouds to the north of Thornton Le Dale did not bode well for the 26 walkers, led by Richard Primmer, as they started this 9.5 mile walk. However, skies brightened as the group headed towards Ellerburn and then up Kirkdale Slack to enter Dalby Forest.

The group continued north through the forest to the outskirts of Staindale Lodge before turning south, passing High Dalby House to reach Dalby Visitor Centre and lunch.

Resuming, it was due south to Low Dalby, onwards to the Paper Mill Ponds and Fish Hatchery then to Ellerburn.

Walking alongside Thornton Beck in pleasant sunshine the group returned to the village.
