East Yorkshire and Derwent Area Ramblers

walking to protect our local countryside

A cool morning at the Hole of Horcum for 13 members, including a visitor from Ramblers Metropolitan Walkers setting off on Stage 7 of the Yorkshire Castles Way.

With Hutton Buscel as a destination and distance of about 15 miles ahead of them, Leader Martin Hill set off on a route along Old Wife's Way to Crosscliff Wood and onwards to Backleys Farm with a lunch stop shortly afterwards.

Resuming, the group walked through a mixture of forest and field tracks, ascending to Highwood Brow viewing point and then continuing through Wykeham Forest to reach Three Tremblers Tumuli.

The final section was south to Sawdon and across fields to arrive at Hutton Buscel.

An enjoyable walk across mixed terrain and on paths new to most members.
