East Yorkshire and Derwent Area Ramblers

walking to protect our local countryside

A dry morning at North Grimston as 22 members arrived for a 10 mile walk led by Neville Kirkpatrick.

Setting off through the village was quickly followed by a steep ascent of Grimston Hill to join the Yorkshire Wolds Way, through Settrington Woods to Settrington Beacon and then descending South Wold Plantation and Bassett Brow.

Reaching the outskirts of Thorpe Bassett village, the group turned towards Thorpe Bassett Wold for a very steep climb, rewarded with a lunch stop at the top and accompanied by good views to the north.

Before resuming rain arrived so a prompt change into wet weather clothing. Thereafter it was all downhill to Settrington House and then following Settrington Beck back to North Grimston
